Softball Recap: North Johnston Takes Down Holmes in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, North Johnston rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Holmes Aces 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since March 27th.

Victoria Sasser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Camden Ford, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Samantha Johnson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for North Johnston and bumps their season record up to 10-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Holmes, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-10.

Coming up, North Johnston will take on Seaforth on Friday. The Hawks will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. Holmes does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
