Softball Game Preview: Adirondack Wildcats vs. Waterville Indians

The Adirondack Wildcats will square off against the Waterville Indians at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Adirondack is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Adirondack's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Dolgeville with a sharp 15-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won three in a row.

Allison Croniser made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Emma Weiler was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Brook Henry was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Adirondack hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Waterville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Dolgeville.

Adirondack's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Waterville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Adirondack took their win against Waterville when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 17-2 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
