Baseball Recap: North Baltimore Comes Up Short

North Baltimore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elgin Comets. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Comets from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Zander South spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because North Baltimore is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, North Baltimore saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Clark, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.

North Baltimore's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Elgin, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-10 record.

North Baltimore has already played their next matchup (against McComb), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Elgin, they are taking a road trip to square off against Buckeye Central at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bucks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.85 runs per game on average), something the Comets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
