Baseball Recap: Midlakes Takes a Loss

Midlakes couldn't beat Palmyra-Macedon on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Screaming Eagles fell just short of the Red Raiders by a score of 6-5. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Screaming Eagles of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Braxton Wilkes put in work no matter where he played. He tossed seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Ayden Klapp was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Trey Martin, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Midlakes and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Palmyra-Macedon, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Midlakes will welcome Geneva at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Screaming Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Palmyra-Macedon, they will be playing at home against East at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
