Softball Game Preview: Vestavia Hills Rebels vs. Calera Eagles

Vestavia Hills is on a six-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Calera a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Vestavia Hills Rebels will be playing at home against the Calera Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Vestavia Hills' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Calera's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Vestavia Hills fell victim to Curry and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yellowjackets.

Meanwhile, Calera scored first but ultimately less than Auburn in their game on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 7-6.

Kinley Rodgers was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Mia Wade, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Vestavia Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Calera, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

Vestavia Hills beat Calera 11-6 when the teams last played back in February. Will Vestavia Hills repeat their success, or does Calera have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
