Recap: Wellston Golden Rockets vs. Southeastern Panthers
The Wellston Golden Rockets pushed their score all the way to 63 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Southeastern by a score of 65-63. Wellston has not had much luck with Southeastern recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Southeastern's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lane Williams, who scored 15 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that Williams scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Connor Smith, who scored 17 points.
Wellston's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Southeastern, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wellston will take on Nelsonville-York at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Southeastern won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Clay at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th. Clay comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
