Basketball Recap: Middleton Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Middleton couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost to the Pocatello Thunder on the road by a 62-46 margin on Saturday. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Vikings, who until this game were averaging 28.93 points allowed.

Despite the loss, Middleton still got an impressive performance from Zoey Blackwell, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 15 points and seven rebounds. Blackwell is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 15 games she's played. Aysha Fried was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to six boards and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Middleton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matchups.

Middleton's loss dropped their record down to 25-2. As for Pocatello, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 24-2.

As of now, neither Middleton nor Pocatello have any future games scheduled.
