Softball Recap: Mahanoy Area Drops Season-High Score on Our Lady of Lourdes Regional

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mahanoy Area). They blew past the Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Red Raiders 28-12 on Tuesday. With that win, the Golden Bears brought their scoring average up to 7.5 runs per game.

Lilly Carl made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-6 with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Naomi Kowalick was incredible, going 4-for-7 with one home run, nine RBI, and four runs. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Ella Brode was another key player, getting on base in six of her seven plate appearances with four runs, two RBI, and one double.

Mahanoy Area's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8. As for Our Lady of Lourdes Regional, their record now sits at 3-11.

Looking ahead, Mahanoy Area will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Pine Grove at 4:00 p.m. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Golden Bears surely won't give up without a fight. As for Our Lady of Lourdes Regional, they will square off against Panther Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
