Softball Recap: Leonardtown Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Leonardtown won the last time they faced Patuxent and things went their way on Monday too. The Raiders never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. Considering the Raiders have won seven matches by more than 11 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Leonardtown got a massive performance out of Vanessa Brooks, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Gray, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Leonardtown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Patuxent only posted an OBP of .062.

Leonardtown's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Patuxent, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Coming up, Leonardtown will take on Chesapeake at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Raiders 1.1, the Cougars 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Patuxent, they will square off against Huntingtown at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
