Basketball Game Preview: Cumberland Valley Eagles vs. Williamsport Millionaires

Having just played yesterday, the Cumberland Valley Eagles will get right back to it and host the Williamsport Millionaires at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Cumberland Valley is coming into the match hot, having won their last ten games.

Cumberland Valley is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Central Dauphin East: they outscored them in every quarter. Cumberland Valley put the hurt on Central Dauphin East with a sharp 80-55 win on Friday. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 21 points or more this season.

Nolan Buzalka was his usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 27 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Dolimpio, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 15 points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Cumberland Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Williamsport fought the good fight in their overtime match against State College on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to the Little Lions. While losing is never fun, the Millionaires can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 375th, while the Little Lions are ranked 132nd).

Cumberland Valley's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.5 points. As for Williamsport, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Cumberland Valley strolled past Williamsport when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a score of 67-50. Does Cumberland Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Williamsport turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
