Bronson is 0-3 against Union County since February of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will look to defend their home field against the Fightin' Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Bronson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Bronson turned things around against Newberry on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 4-1.
Julianne Lampton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Makenna Dean was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brystal Howard, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Union County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 8-1 win. The game was the first time the Fightin' Tigers have beaten the Bears on their field since April 2, 2015.
The team relied heavily on Mackenzie Orton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Jailyn Simmons, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Union County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests.
Union County's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Bronson, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bronson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Union County struggles in that department as they've averaged .366. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bronson suffered a grim 13-6 defeat to Union County in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
