Baseball Recap: Monroe Takes a Loss

Monroe was the 13-9 winner over St. Mary Catholic Central when they last played one another back in May of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Trojans fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 10-9 on Friday. The Trojans' loss continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Carson Liedel made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Monroe: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least three hits, but 3-10 otherwise.

Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for St. Mary Catholic Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Monroe will be playing at home against Annapolis at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.25 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for St. Mary Catholic Central, they will venture away from home to face off against Huron at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
