Softball Recap: Elkton Elks vs. Oakridge Warriors

Elkton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 28-7 to the Oakridge Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-13 on April 4th.

Amira Harper and Amelia Holloway stepped up to the plate in a big way. Harper got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, while Holloway went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Riyo Torres, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.

Elkton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Oakridge, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elkton will take on Lowell at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Elks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Devils have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Oakridge, they will square off against Central Linn at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cobras have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.83 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
