Football Recap: Cheltenham Panthers vs. Quakertown Panthers
After flying high against Harry S. Truman last Friday, Cheltenham came back down to earth. The Cheltenham Panthers and the Quakertown Panthers were almost perfectly matched up on Friday, but the Cheltenham Panthers suffered a 29-28 defeat. Cheltenham was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Quakertown apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2019.
Cheltenham's loss came despite strong showings from Kendall Jackson and Carsen Giddiens. Jackson threw for 379 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.5% of his passes, while Giddiens picked up 114 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Giddiens also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making eight total tackles and defending two passes. A healthy portion of Jackson's aerial production (103 yards to be exact) also went to Isaiah Barnes.
Gavin Carroll continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Quakertown, rushing for 121 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries. Quakertown is 4-1 when Carroll posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Aiden Burgy was another key player, picking up 88 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Cheltenham's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Quakertown, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.
