Baseball Game Preview: Presbyterian Christian Bobcats vs. Hartfield Academy Hawks

For the second straight game, Presbyterian Christian will face off against Hartfield Academy. The Bobcats will venture away from home to take on the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Presbyterian Christian hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Presbyterian Christian is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Hartfield Academy, who was ranked second at the time (Presbyterian Christian was ranked 20th). The Bobcats fell 3-0 to the Hawks on Thursday.

For Hartfield Academy's part, not much got past Taylor Latham, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Presbyterian Christian off the board. Latham has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hartfield Academy saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JP Abt, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases Abt has posted since back in March.

Presbyterian Christian's loss dropped their record down to 17-13. As for Hartfield Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-4 record this season.
