Baseball Recap: Pahrump Valley Comes Up Short

Pahrump Valley extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 9-11. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Spring Valley Grizzlies. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Trojans were not able to get on the board.

As for Spring Valley, they pushed their record up to 11-10-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games.

For Spring Valley's part, the result came thanks to Andres Zachary's shutout, as he gave up just five hits.

At the plate, Spring Valley's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tristan Holcombe, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Those two hits gave Holcombe a new career-high.

Pahrump Valley has already played their next game, a 19-15 loss against Desert Oasis on the 11th. As for Spring Valley, they will venture away from home to face off against Clark at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chargers have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
