Baseball Recap: Wendell Drops Highest Score of Season Against Challis

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Wendell ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the Challis Vikings 8-7. The Trojans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Chip Houser made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Houser was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. That run marked the first that he scored this season.

Houser wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Julian Ponce, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one double. That home run was Ponce's first of the season.

Wendell's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Challis, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1-1.

Wendell and Challis will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Wendell will take on rival Soda Springs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Challis is set to face off against their familiar foe North Fremont at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
