Soccer Recap: Lubbock Comes Up Short

Lubbock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Monterey Plainsmen. While losing is never fun, the Westerners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 544th, while the Plainsmen are ranked 51st).

Lubbock's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Monterey, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0-1.

Lubbock is taking a road trip to challenge Amarillo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Monterey, they will be playing at home against Tascosa at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Monterey's defense has only allowed 0.5 goals per game this season, so Tascosa's offense will have their work cut out for them.
