Softball Recap: Laguna Acoma Find Success

Laguna Acoma hadn't done well against Navajo Prep recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Hawks walked away with a 3-0 victory over the Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Eagles on Tuesday, they had to take a 22-21 defeat.

Laguna Acoma's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Serenity Victorino, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. Another was Brianna Filmer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles.

Laguna Acoma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .516 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Laguna Acoma's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Navajo Prep, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Laguna Acoma Hawks challenge Zuni Thunderbirds at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Zuni will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Navajo Prep, they will challenge Wingate at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Eagles' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
