Basketball Recap: CLAIRE BARNES's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Saint James over Highland

Saint James was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 42-29 to the Highland Hawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Saints of the 38-36 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.

Saint James' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was CLAIRE BARNES, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Saint James' defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Highland, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3.

Saint James will venture away from home to face off against Holton-Arms at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Highland, it'll be Battle of the Birds when the Highland Hawks challenge the Fredericksburg Christian Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
