League recap: Cody edges Western International in nail biter

Cody and Western International played the most hotly contested game in Detroit Public - West this week, with Cody eventually emerging with a 28-22 victory. DeMarco Gulley threw for 103 yards and ran for 94 yards in the win.

Cass Tech led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on Ford.

The Comets' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kenyon Bell helped Cody's passing attack out by catching one ball for 20 yards.

KaJuan Ocasio was the best wideout in the league this week as Cody beat the Cowboys. Ocasio tallied two receptions for 68 yards.

Cody's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Comets feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Gulley has thrown for 778 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Ocasio has 11 catches for 235 yards. Gulley also leads the league in rushing with 503 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Cass Tech takes on second place Cody. The Technicians defeated the Trojans last week, while Calvin Norman's team bested Western International.

Northwestern made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,554 from 12,019. The advance stemmed from a 26-12 victory over Mumford last week.
