Football Recap: Westhill Comes Up Short

Westhill had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it five. They had to suffer through a 56-6 loss at the hands of the Ludlowe Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Falcons are ranked 24th).

As for Ludlowe, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 47.0 points this season.

Leading Ludlowe to victory were Alessandro Giron and Ryan Love. Giron gained 92 total yards and two touchdowns, while Love threw for 167 yards and one touchdown on only 13 passes. Giron's longest reception was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total. Jackson Danylko got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Westhill didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 31-7 loss against Bethel on the 26th. As for Ludlowe, they have also already played their next game, a 21-14 victory against Shelton on the 26th.
