Basketball Recap: Nandua Warriors vs. Pocomoke Warriors
The Nandua Warriors pushed their score all the way to 56 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 64-56 to Pocomoke. Nandua was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Nandua still got an impressive performance from Makai Dorn, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Pocomoke's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malachi Bonneville, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Bonneville has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zymiere Walker, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Nandua now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Pocomoke, they pushed their record up to 8-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Nandua won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Ponies at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Chincoteague is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.3 points per game this season. As for Pocomoke, they will head out on the road to challenge the Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Averaging 70.15 points so far this season, Decatur's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so the Warriors better be ready for a challenge.
