Softball Game Preview: Jacobs Eagles vs. McHenry Warriors

The Jacobs Eagles will square off against the McHenry Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Jacobs has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Jacobs came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 16-8 to Lake Zurich.

Jacobs saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Wetzel, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Molly Hoch was another, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, McHenry made easy work of Cary-Grove on Thursday and carried off a 17-7 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Charlee Cape was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Danica McCarthy, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

McHenry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .552. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Jacobs' loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 12-14. As for McHenry, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.

Everything went Jacobs' way against McHenry in their previous matchup back in April, as Jacobs made off with a 6-0 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
