Softball Game Preview: Lake Zurich Bears vs. Jacobs Golden Eagles

The Lake Zurich Bears will square off against the Jacobs Golden Eagles at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Lake Zurich and Vernon Hills, and Vernon Hills kept the tradition alive. The Bears might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-2 to the Cougars, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Lake Zurich saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Koelper, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Juliana Kekstadt also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Jacobs suffered their biggest defeat since May 3rd on Friday. They came up short against Sycamore, falling 12-3. The Golden Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lake Zurich's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-18-1. As for Jacobs, they now have a losing record of 17-18.
