Preview: Walker Wildcats vs. Scotlandville Hornets

Walker has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Scotlandville Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Walker has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,540 points over their last 23 matches.

Last Monday, Walker didn't have too much trouble with St. Amant at home as they won 56-39. Given Walker's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while St. Amant is ranked 42nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Walker can attribute much of their success to Trinity Thomas, who scored 20 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ray?Onna Sterling, who scored eight points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Scotlandville, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-44 loss to Midland on Monday.

Walker's victory was their 30th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-1. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 36.33 points. As for Scotlandville, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.

Walker was able to grind out a solid win over Scotlandville when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 52-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Walker since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
