Licking Valley dropped their record down to 6-3 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell  6-3 to the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Yellowjackets earlier this season, when they won  4-3.
As for Mt. Vernon, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record  this season. Those  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.
For Mt. Vernon's part,  Jocelyn Scarbury spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on one hit and racked up seven Ks. Scarbury has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
 At the plate, Mt. Vernon let  Hailey Rudrick and  Rylee Myers run wild. Rudrick  went 3-for-4 with three  RBI, two  doubles,  and one  run, while  Myers  went 2-for-3 with two  stolen bases and three  runs. That's the most  runs  Myers has posted since back in May of 2024.  Keely Pollard was another key player,  going 1-for-3 with one  run, one  double,  and one  RBI.
 Coming up, Licking Valley will challenge Tri-Valley at 11:00  a.m.  on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (the Panthers 3.4, the Scotties 3.5) so any  runs scored will be well earned. As for Mt. Vernon, they will face off against Licking Heights at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday.
