Basketball Recap: Lemon Bay Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Lemon Bay and Robinson squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Lemon Bay had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Robinson Knights by a score of 40-38. The Manta Rays have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Manta Rays players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maya Collins, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. Collins has been hot, having also posted three or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylie Jones, who posted six points and 11 boards.

Even though they lost, Lemon Bay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 28 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 28 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Lemon Bay's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Robinson, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-8.

Lemon Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Robinson, they will square off against DeSoto County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. DeSoto County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Robinson likes a good challenge.
