Softball Recap: Lakeville South Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Farmington, Lakeville South was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Lakeville North Panthers by a score of 6-2. This was payback for the Cougars, who suffered an 8-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Lauren Schellhammer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Camryn Dorner, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Lakeville South hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Lakeville South's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-7. As for Lakeville North, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6.

Coming up, Lakeville South will welcome Century at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lakeville North will be paying especially close attention to the Cougars' contest: after the Cougars face off against the Panthers, they'll take on Lakeville North again at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
