Baseball Preview: Chugiak Mustangs vs. South Anchorage Wolverines
Chugiak is 2-8 against South Anchorage since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mustangs will welcome the Wolverines at 7:15 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
While Chugiak didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Bartlett on Monday as they made off with a 16-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Cooper Marks looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sampson Young, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen McNeil, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
