Manteno waltzed into their contest on Saturday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Coal City Coalers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 last Thursday.

Manteno never let Coal City on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-13.

Manteno's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Morgan Derrico, who had 12 digs and one assist.

Manteno was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in six consecutive matches.

Manteno's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Coal City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-10-1.

Manteno didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Pontiac on the 20th. As for Coal City, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Momence on the 20th.
