Basketball Recap: East Laurens Skates Past Dublin with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Laurens). They took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging an 80-38 win over the Dublin Fighting Irish. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 50-19.

East Laurens' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mckayela Tanner led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 22 points and nine assists. With that strong performance, Tanner is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Givens, who went 11 of 21 on her way to 24 points in addition to eight boards and five steals.

Tanner wasn't the only one working in the assists department: East Laurens was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

East Laurens has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Dublin, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-10.

East Laurens wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-39 victory against Bleckley County on the 11th. As for Dublin, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-47 win against Jefferson County on the 9th.
