Basketball Recap: Orrick Comes Up Short

Orrick was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost to the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers at home by a 43-25 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bearcats of the 1-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Wellington-Napoleon found their leader in sophomore Cali Russell, who posted seven points in addition to six steals and five assists. Those six steals gave Russell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Simsheuser, who scored ten points.

Orrick's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-18 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Orrick will venture away from home to take on Norborne at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they will take on Mid-Buchanan at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
