Volleyball Recap: Stagg Chargers vs. Lincoln-Way East Griffins
Stagg lost against Lincoln-Way East back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Chargers fell just short of the Griffins by a score of 2-1. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Stagg sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-16, 21-25, 25-21.
Katy Zumerchik paced Stagg's offense, picking up eight kills. Zumerchik got some help from Maggie Gasienica and her 20 assists. Elaina Yasin and Amelia Kadamus kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.
Casey Twietmeyer was the offensive standout of the match as she had six digs and three aces. That's the most digs she has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Maggie Simon, who had three digs and three aces.
Stagg now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Lincoln-Way East, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season.
Stagg has already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Crete-Monee on the 4th. As for Lincoln-Way East, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Lincoln-Way West on the 9th.
