Baseball Recap: Village Tech Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Village Tech, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They put the hurt on the Keene Chargers with a sharp 16-0 victory on Tuesday.

Angel Ontiveros made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Gray, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jordan Morales also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Village Tech was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Village Tech's record is now 2-8. As for Keene, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-12.

Village Tech wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 8-1 win against Madison on the 8th. As for Keene, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-4 victory against Trinity Leadership on the 8th.
