Preview: Blake Yellow Jackets vs. Robinson Knights
Blake is 1-6 against Robinson since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Blake Yellow Jackets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Robinson Knights at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Blake took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 54-19 win over Chamberlain. The win was just what Blake needed coming off of a 38-17 defeat in their prior matchup.
Blake's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Deshawn Neal, who rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Another player making a difference was Jadarian Collins, who picked up 106 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Robinson entered their tilt with Jefferson with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Robinson put the hurt on Jefferson with a sharp 35-14 victory two weeks ago. Robinson pushed the score to 28-6 by the end of the third, a deficit Jefferson cut but never quite recovered from.
ERIC ARCHIELD JR. was his usual excellent self, throwing for 274 yards and five touchdowns, while also rushing for 95 yards on only six carries. Robinson also got a significant boost from Wilton Rollins, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 83 yards.
Blake's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Robinson, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Blake has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 155.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Robinson struggles in that department as they've been even better at 155.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Blake took a serious blow against Robinson when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 50-13. Will Blake have more luck at home instead of on the road?
