Baseball Recap: Dunbar Comes Up Short

Dunbar lost against Lehigh back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Dunbar Tigers lost 16-6 to the Lehigh Lightning. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Austin Price was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off one hit. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Lazaro Tio Sanchez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Yeison Avila Crombet, who scored two runs and stole a base.

Dunbar's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Lehigh, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dunbar will welcome Ida Baker at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dunbar has given up an average of 18.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Lehigh, they will be playing at home against Gateway Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
