Garrett and Angola are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Railroaders will be playing at home against the Hornets at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Garrett will be strutting in after a win while Angola will be coming in after a loss.
Garrett barely beat Fairfield the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Railroaders' pitcher stepped up to hand the Falcons a 9-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Railroaders not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 14, 2024 (when they won 12-2).

Lucas Collins made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Jackson Ice was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keigan Mountz, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Angola was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 17-5 to Fremont.
Jackson Steury and Myles Steury did some serious damage despite the final result: Jackson went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Myles went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Myles has launched this season.
Garrett picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Angola, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
Garrett's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Railroaders have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Angola, though, as they've been averaging only 0.6 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Garrett continue to outrun the ball?
Garrett took their win against Angola in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-4 score. Do the Railroaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
