Baseball Game Preview: Summit SkyHawks vs. Kaiser Cats

The Summit SkyHawks will face off against the Kaiser Cats at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Summit will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.

Kaiser's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Summit hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The SkyHawks' pitchers stepped up to hand Alta Loma a 7-0 shutout on Friday. The SkyHawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kaiser, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Grand Terrace on Friday as they made off with an 8-1 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Zeke Isaak Cortez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Issac Estrada, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Mota, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Kaiser was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grand Terrace only posted a batting average of .208.

Summit pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Kaiser, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Summit skirted past Kaiser 4-3 in their previous meeting back in March. Do the SkyHawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
