Baseball Recap: Monday's Win Is Foundation Academy's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

While Foundation Academy put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Windermere Prep. The Lions put the hurt on the Lakers with a sharp 15-0 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Drew Calhoun looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Barak Boston was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He also launched a home run, marking his first of the season. Jose Taveras was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Foundation Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .609. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Foundation Academy has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Windermere Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Foundation Academy will take on Poinciana at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.3 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Windermere Prep, they will venture away from home to challenge Crooms Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lakers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
