Volleyball Recap: Strom Thurmond's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Strom Thurmond was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Saluda on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rebels took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ninety Six Wildcats on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

While Strom Thurmond ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19.

Despite the loss, Strom Thurmond had strong showings from Jules Sides, who had 14 digs, and Mollie Bartley, who had five digs and one assist. Sides has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last six times she's played.

Strom Thurmond's defeat ended a five-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9. As for Ninety Six, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season.

Strom Thurmond will be playing at home against Batesburg-Leesville at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Ninety Six does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
