Preview: Valley Vikings vs. Silver Fighting Colts
The Valley Vikings and the Silver Fighting Colts will face off at 12:20 p.m. on December 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Valley is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Silver in New Mexico (Valley is ranked 12th, while Silver is ranked 75th).
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They snuck past Las Cruces with a 41-35 win. Winning may never get old, but Valley sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Valley had a senior duo take command as Julian Chavez scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals and Tyler Kozlowski scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Rosendo Roybal, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Silver's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 55-40 bruising from Clovis.
Valley pushed their record up to 7-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Silver, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Silver when the teams last played back in March of 2019, sneaking past 53-50. Does Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Silver turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
