Springfield had lost four games at home, but after bumping their record up to 4-9 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Napoleon Wildcats 13-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted since May 24, 2025.

Cale Whitmire was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was McCauley White, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Springfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
As for Napoleon, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12. On the bright side, the 11- run performance marked their highest-scoring matchup to date.
On Napoleon's side, Hunter Ehlers was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Ehlers was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Ehlers wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter Bowen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three doubles. Max Koppenhofer was another, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Springfield will have a chance to go back-to-back against Napoleon: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
