Baseball Game Preview: Las Cruces Bulldawgs vs. Valley Vikings

The Las Cruces Bulldawgs will challenge the Valley Vikings at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Las Cruces' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Valley's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Isaiah Borunda was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Diego Avila was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Manzano 9-7. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won eight in a row.

The team relied heavily on Caden Barth, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those RBI marked the first that he brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Foulk, who scored a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.

Las Cruces' victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Valley, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. However, it's not like Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts.
