Game recap: Modesto Christian High School Football Team bests Orestimba

MODESTO, Calif. - Modesto Christian (Modesto, Calif.) jumped out to an early lead against Orestimba (Newman, Calif.) and never looked back on the way to a 47-7 victory on Saturday.

The Crusaders scored 12 points in the first quarter. Modesto Christian scored on a punt return touchdown by JaVaughn Iversen and a touchdown run by Iversen.

MC was up 33-7 at the half after taking the lead on a punt return touchdown by Iversen in the first quarter.

The Modesto school expanded its lead to 40 points entering the fourth quarter. The Crusaders scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by Zack Megee to Zach O'Leary.



Brendan Davis played well for the Warriors. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to two on the year.

Iversen was the top performer for Modesto Christian. The senior ran for two touchdowns and caught one touchdown. He has now scored 13 touchdowns on the season.

Orestimba's lone touchdown came on a 5-yard run by Davis in the second quarter.

Coming into the game MC had allowed 28.1 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding OHS well below its season average of 32.7 points scored per game.

A 42-7 Modesto Christian victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.

The victory was a step in the right direction for MC, which was coming off a 54-35 defeat at the hands of Escalon in its previous game.
