Basketball Recap: Helix Takes a Loss

Helix lost against University City back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Helix Highlanders fell 58-48 to the University City Centurions. While losing is never fun, the Highlanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 544th, while the Centurions are ranked 242nd).

Among those leading the charge was TyShaun Harris, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Stefan O'Neill was another key player, putting up ten points.

Helix's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for University City, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

The future could be bright for both Helix and University City: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Helix will try to hand Patrick Henry their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, University City will try to hand Lincoln their third-straight loss when the two meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
