Basketball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Tohatchi's 17th in Last 18 Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Tohatchi had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They blew past the Ruidoso Warriors 78-50. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Kyle Yazzie continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 50% from the field to rack up 24 points in addition to seven boards and six steals. The game was his 15th in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Dawes, who went 7-for-14 en route to 19 points along with six steals and five assists.

Tohatchi is on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.1 points over those games. Ruidoso's defeat dropped their record down to 16-13.

Tohatchi wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 52-45 loss against Santa Fe Indian on the 12th. Ruidoso does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
