Baseball Game Preview: Hopkinton Hillers vs. Westwood Wolverines

The Hopkinton Hillers are taking a road trip to challenge the Westwood Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Hopkinton took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past Ashland 10-1. The Hillers not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 9, 2024.

Michael Sullivan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Sullivan was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Mitch Simulis was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Dylan Ruff was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Westwood put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Ashland as they made off with an 11-1 win.

Hopkinton pushed their record up to 1-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Westwood, their record is now 3-0.

Hopkinton came out on top in a nail-biter against Westwood in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Hillers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
