Baseball Recap: Cheney Tech Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Cheney Tech had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Vinal RVT Hawks. For the Chargers, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 victory the Hawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Spencer Johnson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Johnson was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Thomas Fortunato was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Vinal RVT is on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cheney Tech will head out to face off against Manchester at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Vinal RVT, they will venture away from home to square off against Platt RVT at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
