Basketball Game Preview: Johnson Eagles vs. Hatch Bobcats

Johnson is 2-8 against Hatch since November of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Johnson Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Hatch Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Johnson is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Thursday. They had to suffer through a 85-34 loss at the hands of Keith.

Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, Hatch's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Keith and fell 74-42. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bobcats came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Bears are ranked 234th).

Johnson's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Hatch, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 12-3.

Johnson was dealt a bruising 75-21 loss at the hands of Hatch in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Johnson was down 48-11.
